Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
Question: Why do we need to be peacemakers in order to be called “the
children of God.” Did not God already create us as His image and likeness?
Answer: God did create us in His image and likeness, as we read in Genesis, and we are
already His children. But, how many of us are convinced of that fact! This is our struggle: to accept and claim our right to be called “children of God.” Mortal mind would insist, however, that we are children of mortals, subject to birth, growth, decay, and death in matter.
“Mortals can never understand God’s creation while believing that man is a creator. God’s children already created will be cognized only as man finds the truth of being.” (S&H 69)
“The real man is spiritual and immortal, but the mortal and imperfect so-called ‘children of men’ are counterfeits from the beginning, to be laid aside for the pure reality.” (S&H 409)
“The eternal Truth destroys what mortals seem to have learned from error, and man’s real
existence as a child of God comes to light.” (S&H 288)
“Citizens of the world, accept the ‘glorious liberty of the children of God,’ and be free! This is your
divine right.” (S&H 227)
We are, indeed, the spiritual “children of God.” But, we must put down all the lies of mortal mind that say we are not. Then we will prove who we are!
Practice: Today, claim your rights!
